Call for Tutorial Proposals

Russian Conference on Digital Libraries (RCDL 2007) invites proposals for tutorials.

A major Russian event in the digital libraries field, RCDL helps to improve international collaboration. English is the second official language of the conference and most of Russian participants are able to speak English, providing a foundation for efficient communication.

RCDL traditionally attracts leading Russian IR researchers. Conference program includes number of presentation on IR topics and this year there are two collocated IR workshops: Russian Information Retrieval Evaluation Seminar (ROMIP) (http://romip.ru/en/index.html for details) and Internet Mathematics workshop (http://company.yandex.ru/grant/index.xml).

We are looking for 2-4 hours tutorials surveying mature work, presenting emerging approaches or challenging applications. Especially welcome are tutorials addressing advanced IR topics and topics on the edge of DL and IR.

Conference will be held in Pereslavl, a small ancient city in Moscow region. For more information about the conference and venue, please see http://rcdl.ru/en/index.html.Submissions should include:
  • Title of Tutorial
  • Name, affiliation, and contact coordinates of speaker
  • Rational: the overall objective of the tutorial
  • Outline: a brief structure of the tutorial
  • Intended audience: what prerequisites are required to understand the tutorial
  • List of (up to 10) related references.
  • Where this tutorial has been presented before (or is under consideration for presentation), if applicable.
  • A short biographical sketch of each author (about 10 lines/author).

What a tutorial should NOT be: a promotion of the only presenter's work; a promotion of a product.

The proposals should be sent to program@rcdl2007.pereslavl.ru

Deadline for the proposals: August 1, 2007

Notification of acceptance: August 10, 2007

Notes: Tutorials will be freely accessible by conference participants. Tutorial notes will be published on the conference web site and included into the conference proceedings. Depending on funding availability, RCDL 2007 will cover travel and lodging expenses for one presenter per accepted tutorial.
